Royal Caribbean ships are completely cashless — everything you buy onboard is charged to your SeaPass card, the card you receive when you board. Here’s how paying for things works on the Rise & Vibe Cruise.
💳 How the SeaPass Card Works
- Your SeaPass card is your room key, your ID for getting on and off the ship, and your onboard payment card all in one.
- Every purchase (drinks, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, spa, shops, excursions) is charged to your onboard account — no cash or credit card needed at the register.
- Kids’ cards can have spending enabled or disabled — set this up at check-in or at Guest Services.
🏦 Setting Up Your Onboard Account
During Royal Caribbean online check-in (opens September 18, 2026 in the app), you’ll choose how to pay:
- Credit/debit card: your card is charged automatically at the end of the cruise. Note: debit cards can have holds placed on your bank account for several days after sailing, so a credit card is recommended.
- Cash account: you can instead deposit cash at Guest Services once onboard and spend against it. If you don’t use it all, the balance is refunded at the end of the cruise.
📱 Tracking Your Spending
- Check your onboard account balance anytime in the Royal Caribbean app or at any Guest Services desk.
- Balances update automatically as you make purchases — check it every day or two so there are no surprises on the last morning.
💵 What Things Cost Extra
Your cruise fare covers meals at the complimentary venues, basic beverages, entertainment, and Frequense events. Common extra charges include:
- Alcohol, soda, specialty coffee, and drink packages
- Specialty dining (Chops Grille, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, Izumi, and more)
- Wi-Fi packages
- Spa and salon services, arcade, casino
- Shore excursions and Perfect Day at CocoCay extras (Thrill Waterpark, cabanas, etc.)
- Gratuities — $18.50 per person, per day ($21.00 for Grand Suites and above), charged automatically to your onboard account, plus 18% auto-gratuity on drinks, specialty dining, and room service
See What’s Included on the Rise & Vibe Cruise for the full list of what’s free and what’s not.
🏝️ Spending Off the Ship
- Perfect Day at CocoCay: your SeaPass card works for all purchases on the island — no cash needed.
- Nassau: bring some cash (U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere) for taxis, beach chair rentals, vendors, and tips. Cards are accepted at larger restaurants and shops.
💡 Money Tips
- Buy drink packages, Wi-Fi, and excursions before the cruise in Royal Caribbean’s Cruise Planner — pre-cruise prices are almost always cheaper than onboard.
- Bring small bills for porters at the terminal and taxis in Nassau.
- Alcohol purchased in port or in the ship’s shops is stored by the ship and returned on the last day.
